Welcome to first grade at MPTS! I am so excited to have your child in my class this year. I look forward to an exciting year!! Now for a little bit about me. I am originally from Oneida, New York (yes, where they make the silverware!) and moved down to North Carolina in 1996 for my first teaching position. I taught first grade at Chapel Grove Elementary School in Gaston County for 18 years. This year marks my 21st year teaching and third year at MPTS. I received my Undergraduate Degree from SUNY Oneonta in New York. In addition, I obtained my Master's Degree in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University. I have been awarded Chapel Grove Teacher of the Year in 2001-02 and 2013-14. I also received the honor of being named Gaston County's Teacher of the Year in 2013-14. In 2016-17 I was named Myers Park Teacher of the Year. This is my 3rd year at MPTS. I LOVE this school and hope to continue my educational journey for many years here.
I live in South Charlotte with my Siberian Husky named Okemo. I love to spend time with my family and friends when I am not doing work for the classroom. I am an avid walker and enjoy walking on all the beautiful Greenways in Charlotte.
Teaching is my passion and I especially love to teach children how to read. There is nothing more empowering. I look forward to working with you and your child this school year!! Let's make this the BEST year yet!
